Title: Financial Services Java Developer - Full Time Employee

Greenline Financial Technologies is an established technology products and services firm that seeks a Java/J2EE Programmer Analyst to work in Chicago, IL. Candidate will be responsible for Java programming in primarily a UNIX and LINUX environment. The programmer will be developing, testing and supporting applications used by the electronic trading industry. The responsibilities include coding, testing, implementation and support. Most tasks will be of medium to high complexity including responsibility for detecting and resolving data quality and system errors. The candidate must also be able to create test plans and translate business needs into the quality assurance process and implement it. Participation in other development projects in quantitative areas can occur, based on candidate's experience and interest.

The candidate must have the ability to multi-task in a complex and fast paced environment. A bachelor's degree in Finance or Computer Science preferred, and a minimum of 3-5 years of prior related experience are required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interacting with the business users and provide support during the day
  • Coding, testing, implementation and support of the application

Essential Skills

  • Java (J2EE), UNIX/Linux and Windows
  • Relational database experience (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL)
  • Team oriented, flexible, and creative
  • Positive attitude, mature, quick learner, professional and driven
  • Light database administration

Desired Skills

  • Agile development experience (continuous integration, refactoring, unit tests)
  • C/C++, XML, JavaScript, Object Oriented development
  • Knowledge of financial markets: derivatives, equities, futures & options, fixed income and/or foreign exchange
  • Solid understanding of multithreading and IP network programming
  • Experience with FIX protocol
  • Experience with exchange API's
  • Experience with Futures & Options trading

Education/Work Experience

  • Degree in computer science preferred
